Palmetto Bay resident, Koby Rouviere, 9, may not spend as much time as many youngsters watching television shows or movies, but he is spending a fair amount of time acting in them.

Among the latest of his projects is a plum role on the new Paul Reiser Show, which is beginning to tape episodes and has been picked up for a mid-season run by NBC. Koby plays “Gabe,” one of Paul Reiser’s two sons in the new sitcom in which Reiser plays himself as an ex-TV star who’s searching for his next big role. Reiser ( Mad About You) and Jonathan Shapiro ( Boston Legal) are executive producers and Warner Bros. Television is the studio.

Koby’s real life mom, Jodi Rouviere, explained how the role came about.

“He met with and read scenes for producers and with Paul Reiser and other boys who were being considered to play the part of the older brother,” Rouviere said. “He was then asked to return for another read with Paul Reiser and the boy who they were booking to play the older brother, ‘Zeke,’ who is a physically challenged child with Spina Bifida.

“Koby and Brock Waidmann, who plays ‘Zeke,’ hit it off instantly, great chemistry all around. We returned to Miami and waited. A week later, we got the good news. Koby had booked the pilot. We flew out and taped it in April and then awaited the fall sweeps. Happily, the Paul Reiser Showwas picked up by NBC. We just returned this past weekend from shooting another episode and he is headed back out soon.”

Show business is nothing new to Koby, who made his first TV appearance in a national commercial for Volkswagen and had been appearing in ads for stores such as Toys R Us since he was just 3 months old.

He has a recurring role as young Marshall on How I Met Your Mother; has been in countless TVcommercials for products like OxiClean and K9 Advantix, on posters for WalMart and Kohl’s, and recently appeared alongside his real sister, Sydney, in Ben Stiller’s movie Greenberg. He played Stiller’s nephew.

Koby loves acting and traveling but also enjoys going to Alexander Montessori School in Palmetto Bay and is quarterback on a flag football team there. He feels the new TV sitcom is a great experience for him.

“It is really fun working with everyone,” Koby said. “Everyone is so nice and Paul is so funny.”

Koby’s brother, Zack, and his sisters, Sydney and Taylor, have all been in numerous commercials and print ads, on magazine covers, and there’s one possible movie role pending. Their mom, Jodi, and her husband were both born and raised in the area and all have attended local schools. Jodi also is no stranger to the business, as she is the owner of Junior Talent Management.
