The Dade County Farm Bureau earned special recognition for its member services activities during the past year at the Florida Farm Bureau Federation’s 69th annual meeting, Oct. 10-12, at the Hilton Daytona Beach Ocean Walk Village.
At the awards banquet, Ivonne Alexander, who serves as a Dade County Farm Bureau president-elect, accepted the 2010 President’s Award and the Award of Excellence from Florida Farm Bureau president John Hoblick.
The President’s Award is the highest level of recognition a county Farm Bureau can receive. Furthermore, the Dade County Farm Bureau was honored for excellence in each of the five categories set forth by the Florida Farm Bureau: Organization and Management, Leadership Development, Public Relations/Information, Education/ Agriculture Promotion and Legislative/ Policy Implementation. The bureau also was recognized for having exemplary Women’s and Young Farmers & Ranchers (YF&R) programs.
Dade County Farm Bureau represents more than 4,000 members, over 1,000 of whom are involved actively in agribusiness, and represent over 900 agricultural operations. Dade County farmers provide an economic impact of more than $2.57 billion to the local and state economy.
