Two separate but related Halloween events — one geared mostly for children and the other strictly for adults — will cap off the Village of Palmetto Bay’s October activities.
The first is Halloween Movie Night at Coral Reef Park, which is a safe and fun alternative to trick or treating in the streets. Taking place on Oct. 30 and starting at 6 p.m., this event is open free to the public. Dozens of community partners will join with Palmetto Bay’s elected officials to hand out candy and stickers for trick or treaters.
“Kids and adults dressed in their best Halloween costume will be automatically eligible to receive a raffle ticket to win great prizes,” said Saylin Paez, the village’s events and programs coordinator. “Then at about 7 p.m., we play host to a Movie Night showing of a Halloween-themed movie, The Book of Life. “The pros at the Coral Reef Tennis Center also are hosting games and activities on the tennis courts for all to enjoy, with great prizes.” She added. “So come out early, stake out a good spot to watch the movie, bring some bug spray or your own home brew, and enjoy a family-fun evening in the Village of Parks.”
Next is the “Costume & Cocktails Halloween Party” on Oct. 31 at Thalatta Estate from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Part of Palmetto Bay’s Date Night series, this event is for adults 21 and older.Admission is $25 for each adult and includes a buffet, music, dancing, haunted house fun and much more. Tickets are limited.
“Throughout the evening the deejay will spin tunes while guests enjoy the décor and being spooked inside the Thalatta Estate Haunted Mansion,” Paez said.
Tickets are on sale at Coral Reef Park, 7895 SW152 St. The park tennis window is open Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to noon and reopens from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. For information call 305-253-8655 or 305-259- 1234 or visit www.palmettobay-fl.gov.
