Williams to lead WCS track and cross-country programs

Kaprice Williams

Westminster Christian School (WCS) in Palmetto Bay has hired Kaprice Williams as head coach of their cross-country and track and field programs.

Williams joins WCS from Florida International University (FIU) where she was instrumental in leading the track team to nationals as a graduate assistant/sprints coach. Previously, she was an assistant volunteer coach at Georgia State.

“I’m eager to work with the student athletes at Westminster,” Williams said. “Westminster has a strong athletic tradition, and I look forward to bringing my passion and expertise to help develop the program further.”

A freshman transfer from Clemson, Williams attended the University of Central Florida (UCF) on a full athletic scholarship. In 2005, she recorded an indoor season best of 7.1 in the 55-meter dash at the Florida Intercollegiate Championship and posted times of 7.81 in the 60-meter dash and 23.9 in the 200-meter dash at the Carolina Classic. She also qualified for the Nationals in the 200-meter dash, but was unable to compete due to an injury.

“Kaprice William’s contributions to the FIU Men’s and Women’s Track Program have been endless. It’s amazing how much she impacted our program in just two years,” said Eric Campbell, FIU head track and field coach. “She has shown exemplary character, unquestioned integrity, and an unmatched dedication to serve young people. Westminister has just hired one of the best and brightest coaches in the country.”

Williams was a standout athlete at Eleanor Roosevelt-Greenbelt High in Maryland where she ran the first and fastest leg on the No. 1 ranked 4×2 relay team in the nation. She also was a state and region runner-up in the 55-, 100- and 200-meter dashes.

She earned a master’s degree in exercise physiology from FIU, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Central Florida.
