Eleanor Winhold and her husband, Marvin, have owned Winhold Montessori Schools, Inc. since 1982. Mrs. Winhold took the 3 – 6 yr. old Montessori Teacher Training Course in 1968 from Dr. Elisabeth Caspari who studied and worked with Dr. Maria Montessori, and taught both at Kingswood Montessori Academy in the Redland and Alexander School in Palmetto Bay. She later received her 6 – 9 yr. old Montessori Teacher Training, teaching at Kingswood Montessori Academy before opening Winhold Montessori School. She serves on the executive board of the Palmetto Bay Business Association where she is the Past Chairman, and she is currently Secretary of the board of the South Miami-Dade Economic Development Council.

At Winhold Montessori School, instilling the fundamentals set forth by Dr. Maria Montessori for children eighteen months to six years of age is our focus, where all of the classroom teachers are certified Montessori Directresses. Our curriculum places a high priority on academics, while also addressing the whole child to a broader spectrum that includes French, Spanish, and Yoga, as well as Art and Music. There is a ten month school year from the beginning of August until the end of May.
A summer academic camp is extremely important in order to maintain a sharper academic edge for the next school year. It is a well known fact that one has to Use it or Lose it, and that children can lose up to 30% of their grade level equivalency skills by the time they return to school for the next school year.
Whether in the well equipped classrooms or playground, our program prepares your child for an accelerated placement in first grade, while achieving his or her fullest potential.
