4 5K Miami Wild Run & Fun Walk to benefit 5,000 at- risk youth

The goal of the upcoming 5K Wild Run & Fun Walk on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Zoo Miami is to raise $150,000 to benefit the more than 5,000 at-risk kids in our neighborhoods, it was announced recently by Bonnie Rodriguez, executive director of Miami Youth For Christ. Last year’s event generated $94,000 and attracted more than 1,000 participants.

“Each year we see more and more troubled kids in need in our communities, and each year we are committed to seeking more and more ways to reach out to them through our five programs that have proved successful year after year,” Rodriguez said. “Our certified 5K Run and Walk at Zoo Miami is fun for everyone, where families can gather for a morning walk throughout the gorgeous zoo, knowing that they are contributing to our community in a big way.

“It is the vision of Youth for Christ to make sure that every young person has the opportunity to reach their God-given potential,” Rodriguez added.

The five outreach strategies offer 31 after school and evening programs across the city.

This year’s event will feature the Heat’s “Burnie,” and the Chick Filet Cow. Afull breakfast is served, complete with bagels and cream cheese, fresh-brewed coffee, Krispy Kreme donuts, lots of fresh fruit and orange juice, plus other delectable surprises to satisfy all palates.
