Miracle on 136th St. Parade at The Falls returns Nov. 20

The Miracle on 136th Street Parade and the arrival of Santa Claus signals the start of the holiday season at The Falls shopping center.

The official start of the holiday season will get underway when the 14th annual Miracle on 136th Street Parade marches into The Falls shopping center on Nov. 20 at 4 p.m.

See local marching bands, bagpipers, stilt walkers, junkanoo band, Brazilians dancers, Dixieland band, local dignitaries, costumed characters, celebrities and more. The parade will feature native Miamian Josie Loren, star of ABC Family’s television drama series Make it or Break It as the celebrity grand marshal.

Culminating with the arrival of Santa, the Miracle on 136th Street Parade promises to be one of the biggest spectacles of the holidays. Free and open to the public, the parade benefits the scholarship fund of the Miami-Dade County Fair.

“Since we first started the parade 14 years ago, the Miracle on 136th Street Parade has really blossomed into a South Florida tradition that attracts some 20,000 people annually,” said Julie Goldman, general manager at The Falls. “The Falls is proud to be the organizers of this fun-filled family event that brings joy and smiles to the people of our community.”

Following the parade, the lights of the season will come aglow at The Falls as hundreds of thousands of lights that showcase giant animal topiaries and elaborate water elements to include elephants, giraffes, peacocks, camels, dolphins and more will illuminate the shopping center’s gardens and waterfalls.

Santa also will take up residence and be available for photos in Center Court at the Santa House, which will remain open until early January through Three Kings Day.

There will be three stages of post-parade entertainment featuring a performance by Lauren, The Nutcracker presentation, Frank Hubbell’s Jazz Band, 2 Night Stand and more.

The parade route, which is located on the Boulevard in between the center and the parking lot, will start at the east end of The Falls in front of Bloomingdale’s and traverse the entire length of the center, west to Macy’s. Spectators are asked to arrive early and line both sides of the parade route.

The Miracle on 136th Street Parade is sponsored by Presenting Sponsor Florida Blue.

The Falls, located at 8888 SW 136 St., is one of the largest open-air shopping, dining and entertainment complexes in the U.S., featuring Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, more than 100 stores, restaurants, cafés and Regal Cinemas.
