Pure Barre workouts are centered around a ballet barre.

Barre workouts, one of the top fitness trends for 2014, are a non-impact, total body workout that creates lean, strong physiques without bulk through isometric movements, all centered around a ballet barre.

As the proven workout is now making its mark in Florida, one brand in particular has targeted Miami communities for growth — including Brickell, Kendall and Pinecrest — after the success of the Coral Gables studio, the first in the Miami area. Owner of the local studio, Jessica Alier, has had a passion for fitness her entire life and is proud to be the first to bring it to the area.

Pure Barre is the largest, most established barre franchise in the nation, with more than 200 studios across the country and 16 in Florida. The Pure Barre workout lifts the seat, tones the thighs and upper body and burns fat in record-breaking time. The workout is done by clients of all shapes, sizes and fitness levels — no dance experience necessary.

Pure Barre supports and empowers clients both inside and outside the studio, welcoming them as a part of the Pure Barre community.
Alier always has been athletic, with a particular interest in dance and fitness. Her love for dancing started when she joined a professional dance company in Florida. There, after a lot of intense fitness conditioning, she eventually started teaching classes, competing and performing all around the U.S. and internationally.

Upon graduating from the University of Florida, Alier moved to Raleigh, NC for an opportunity to pursue her professional career goals. While working as a project manager for a global product safety and environmental sustainability organization, she discovered a local Pure Barre studio and became an instructor there, teaching classes for about two years.

Alier knew immediately after her very first training that she eventually would open her own studio. Partial to the Miami area, because she lived and worked there for many years, she decided to open her own studio in Coral Gables, at 205 Altara Ave., in September 2012.

“I love interacting with clients every day and seeing their transformations, not only in the way that they become confident with their bodies, but changes they make for their overall well-being,” Alier said. “Pure Barre is more than just a workout — it’s a close-knit community and lifestyle where everyone encourages and supports each other, and it’s incredibly rewarding to be a part of it.”
