“Summer, summer, summer time. Time to sit back and unwind.” This is the hook from an old Will Smith song. I hope everyone is enjoying their summer time thus far. The PBA kicked off summer on Friday, June 22nd, with our first ever PBA Domino Tournament, with proceeds benefitting the Love Fund. Your support for the event was overwhelming – we had 32 teams participate and had to turn away 6 teams as our dominoes tables quickly filled. Fortunately, we had great music, delicious food, an open bar, limited-edition PBA cigars, a whiskey tasting and a raffle for everyone to enjoy throughout the evening. Thank you to everyone who donned their best Hawaiian attire to come play dominoes and the many others that came out simply to play cards or socialize with colleagues and friends while supporting the Love Fund. Special thanks also go out to PBA member, Joel Valdes, for organizing this great event and thanks also to retired MDPD Lieutenant Rene Bello for his assistance in managing the tournament, as well as our PBA staff and our Board of Directors, Robin Pinkard and Jennifer Valdes, for volunteering. In closing, we here at the PBA want to say thanks once again to all for coming out and supporting local law enforcement and raising money for the Love Fund, a 501(c)(3) charity which assists the families of officers injured or killed in the line of duty during times of extreme need.
