The 2017 Hyundai Elantra Limited: a lot of car for a compact

The 2017 Hyundai Elantra Limited is a compact car chockfull of great features. Such features include new Android and Apple phone compatibility, a hands-free trunk lift and the Elantra’s new refined styling. The Elantra also boasts a comfortable, spacious cabin especially for that of a compact car.

For 2017, Hyundai redesigned the Elantra to create a more high-end looking sedan. Upon its introduction in 2011, the Elantra had a slightly more edgy aesthetic. Fast-forward six years, and you’ll find that the Elantra has a much more sophisticated, angled look that is shared with many luxury sedans. Also changed for this year, is the addition of more noise-dampening materials. Hyundai’s use of thicker glass and more insulation between the engine and cabin has greatly improved cabin noise and made for a very quiet ride.

Not only is the Elantra very quiet, but also very spacious for its class. While it is a compact car, the 2017 Elantra boasts a comfortable 110.2 cubic feet of cabin space which is about as much as a midsize car. This means the Elantra has sufficient head and legroom for even tall drivers and passengers. Seats are comfortable and supportive all around. The 60/40-split folding rear seatback also allows for more cargo space, when needed. As far as style, the interior of the Elantra is just as refined as its exterior. Aside from the rather abundant use of plastic, the interior feels upscale and well designed. The functions are controlled by a touchscreen, except for the audio and climate, which is sensible.

The Elantra has three different trims: SE, Eco and Limited. Popular Equipment and Tech packages are available for the SE trims, as well. The Limited model comes with some of the following features: blind spot detection with rear cross-traffic alert, rearview camera, SiriusXM radio, 7” touchscreen display, USB charging, Bluetooth, leather seating, push to start button, navigation system, 8-speaker stereo, power sunroof and the aforementioned Android and Apple connectivity as well as the hands-free smart trunk.

While the Elantra has yet to be crash-tested, it is expected to have high safety ratings because of its extensive list of safety features. Some safety features are: 4-wheel disc and drum brakes, emergency trunk release, lane departure warning and a rollover protection system. With all of these standard tech and safety features, it is no surprise U.S. News has ranked the 2017 Elantra #4 in the compact car segment.

The Hyundai Elantra is redesigned for 2017 and boasts several attractive features. The test-driven Limited trim comes with everything from blind spot detection to a power sunroof. Despite being an economical compact car, Hyundai did not skimp on space or in features when designing the 2017 Elantra. It can easily seat tall adults while providing a comfortable and notably quiet ride. Additionally, with the mileage of 29 MPG city and 38 MPG highway, the Elantra is also competitive in its segment for fuel efficiency, giving you a great bang for your buck.

The MSRP for the 2017 Hyundai Elantra Limited starts at $22,350
