2026 Infiniti QX60 Sport AWD scratches that itch

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Unlike some carmakers that slap a “Sport” badge on a performance-tuned chassis or a big-horsepower engine, Infiniti takes a more nuanced approach with the QX60 Sport AWD. The QX60 Sport AWD uses the same 2.0-liter VC-Turbo 4-cylinder engine that powers the entire 2026 lineup. That’s a turbocharged unit producing about 268 horsepower and 286 lb-ft of torque paired with a smooth 9-speed automatic transmission. AWD enhances traction and composure in rain or across uneven surfaces, essential for unpredictable South Florida summer squalls.

Where the $52,000 Sport diverges from lesser trims is largely in aesthetic and detail. It has gloss black 20-inch wheels, darker exterior accents, and unique interior color themes that give it a sharper look. At its heart, the Sport is still balanced and composed, with Infiniti’s typical focus on quiet, confident cruising.

That said, the Sport’s visual presence carries weight. The design makes it look faster than it actually is, which matters. The QX60 Sport AWD’s turbo four isn’t a powerhouse by modern SUV standards, but it does deliver smooth, usable acceleration and plenty of torque for passing on the open stretch of I-95 or merging onto the Palmetto Expressway.

Even loaded with family and luggage, it feels confident rather than strained.

Fuel economy lands in the mid-20s mpg combined, a respectable figure for a fully loaded, three-row luxury rig, especially one that can tow up to around 6,000 pounds when properly equipped. That’s real towing muscle for boats, trailers, or weekend water toys.

Infiniti didn’t skimp on content. The QX60 Sport AWD comes loaded with a 12.3-inch Google-integrated infotainment system, complete with navigation, Google Assistant, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, and a premium Klipsch audio system that makes the daily commute or long-haul playlist soundstage noticeably richer.

Inside, you’ll find leather-appointed surfaces, intuitive controls, and thoughtful touches throughout the cabin, from ample USB-C ports for all rows to wireless phone charging. And crucially for South Florida summers, the tri-zone climate system handles heat and humidity with aplomb even when the third row is in use.

In an era where true diversity in SUV character is rare, Infiniti has carved out a niche here: a luxury family SUV that looks sportier than it feels, yet delivers the substance most South Florida drivers crave. If your priority is balanced luxury with a spirited presence and real-world utility, the QX60 Sport AWD deserves a close look.

Give it a spin and tell me what you think.
