One of the major responsibilities of the Village Council is to set an annual budget. Each year this process begins in the spring, and concludes in the fall so that the new budget year can begin on October 1. During the late summer, the Village reviews the budget and debates the services we are to provide and the level and cost at which we choose to provide them.
At the July Village Council meeting, the Village Manager presented a proposed budget, and the Village Council adopted a proposed millage rate, which sets the property tax for the upcoming fiscal year. We are fortunate that the Village of Pinecrest continues to have one of the lowest tax rates of any municipality in Miami-Dade County. The Village Council and staff put great effort into ensuring that our tax dollars are expended in an efficient manner that maximizes services and achieves our short and long-term goals.
This past August, the Village Council conducted a budget workshop and the Village Manager hosted a Budget Town Hall. I encourage you to be a part of the budget process. The Village Council will conduct two public hearings in September – the first being on September 12. For the dates and times of all public meetings, please visit our website, follow us on social media or register for our E-mail Subscription Service.
