Summer is finally here, which means school is out and adults are looking for great ways to spend their vacation. Faced with so many opportunities, it is puzzling that some kids may find themselves simply sitting at home. To help you with your planning troubles, here is a smattering of some amazing things to do in Miami that could appeal to both family and friends.
Venetian Pool
Created straight from a rock quarry and fed by an underground aquifer, this historic pool with rich Italian flair is sure to leave many in shock and awe. But be sure to head out early as Venetian pool staff begin to close off entrances when the pool reaches max capacity. Nevertheless, the rush is worth a dip surrounded by tropical plant life and beautiful plant structures – in fact it is one of the top attractions in the City of Coral Gables.
Museums
If you’re looking for something to “wow” you and the family, while learning all about science or experiencing the amazingly rich art of this diverse metropolis, then look no further than Miami’s vast collection of museums. If you’re more of an “artsy” person, the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, Perez Art Museum, or the Institute of Contemporary Art and Wynwood Walls are your best choices for you to explore. If you’re more science brained, the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science or Miami Seaquarium are the ideal spots.
Beaches
A list of things to do in Miami would not be complete without a recommendation of the area’s fantastic beaches – the two most highly recommended being Miami Beach and Key Biscayne. Miami Beach is known for its white, sandy beaches, turquoise waters, and over-the-top cultural scene, while Key Biscayne has a reputation for stunning nature preserves and restaurants with some of the most postcard-worthy panoramas – and of course vast stretches of sandy beaches, too. Whichever way you go, both make for a great time.
The Everglades
The largest subtropical wilderness in the United States and home to many exotic and endangered wildlife such as the manatee, American crocodile, and Florida panther, the Everglades National Park is a must-go for anybody in Miami. Birders, tourists and explorers alike flock to the everglades to get a glimpse at this marvel of nature, while also seeing firsthand why it is so important to contribute to preserving and protecting the Everglades for generations to come.
Sports Stadiums
For the sports lover, whether a Miami fan or not, you’ll find what you are looking for at any of the nine stadiums across the area. Rooting for the Dolphins, the Heat, or the Hurricanes? It really doesn’t matter because any one of these venues will surely provide you with a stadium experience that is truly unforgettable.
