The Village of Pinecrest invites you to celebrate our magnificent planet on Sunday, April 22 from noon till 4:00 p.m. when we open our gates FREE to the public. The Meadow will be hosting several plant and other “green” vendors and we will be giving out special raffle prizes at 3:30 p.m. For children, our Petting Zoo will feature a wild life show, there will be an Environmental Storyteller, performances by Fantasy Theater Factory, face painting and lady bug releases. We have art presentations and tours given by the Perez Art Museum throughout the day, special presentations from Xavier Cortada including a Longitudinal Installation Ceremony, Native Flag Ceremony, the dedication of his new installation titled Diatoms and so much more. The day will conclude with a highly anticipated performance by the Greater Miami Youth Symphony. Additionally, you can visit our spectacular Farmers Market that will be open throughout the day. We have off-premise parking at Christ the King Church, Palmetto Senior High and Pinecrest Elementary, with free shuttle service to and from the Gardens. This is one Earth Day Festival you will not want to miss.

Join in the fun as Nick navigates the caper of a lifetime, complete with tantalizing twits, crazy characters, and a surprise ending that will amuse the most seasoned of sleuths. Gordon needs his audience of JR. detectives to point out clues, deliver messages, and watch his back – when things get a little rough. Puppetry, magic, slapstick comedy, and audience participation are sure to entertain the young and the young-at-heart. Join us for an evening where nature meets song. It begins with a guided tour of our very own Rainforest, an informative talk about rainforests in general this will all be followed by a concert by the Florida Grand Opera Young Artists, themed around the sounds of Nature and inspired by Daniel Catan’s masterpiece “Florencia en el Amazonas” set on the Amazon River. Palmetto Middle School Music will perform on Wednesday, April 18, 7:00 p.m. where you can experience the best of the best of Palmetto Middle School’s Cultural Arts Programs at the 2nd Annual Music at the Gardens Fundraiser Concert! This unique and diverse evening of performances feature arrangements from Michael Jackson, Journey, and Stevie Wonder as well as solos and ensembles from Palmetto’s chamber groups. Enjoy performances from the symphonic Band, Concert Orchestra, Advanced Drama Program, Advanced Dance Program and an exhibit of Advanced 3-D Art. Tickets are $10 and available at the gate the day of the performance.
Arvida Middle School will perform a Spring Pops Concert on Wednesday, April 25, 7:00 p.m. The evening will feature Arvida Middle School’s Advanced Orchestra, Jazz Band, and Chorus performing works including, Thriller, Can’t Stop the Feeling, and a Beatles Medley and more. A pre-show hors d’oeuvres hour is included in the price of the ticket. Tickets are $16 and are pre-sale only through Complete Ticket Solutions. Donations will be accepted at the time of event. Miami Music Project will host a recital on Saturday, April 28 at 2:00 p.m. Miami Music Project uses music as an instrument for social transformation, empowering children to acquire values and achieve their full potential through the study and performance of music in underdeveloped and immigrant communities. Miami Music Project has grown over the past 6 years from a student roster of 15 to almost 500. Designed as a tuition-free, intensive after-school program, they provide a fully integrated music curriculum, which builds the transferable, practical and social skills needed to improve academic motivation, and social preparedness. Help us to honor and celebrate these children. The concert is free with park admission.
RELAY FOR LIFE CONTINUES…
Relay for Life’s Team Little Mermaid (the Village of Pinecrest Youth Advisory Committee) presents A Movie Night Fundraiser featuring the wonderful animated film Wall-E on Friday, April 27. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., there will be popcorn, food vendors and flashlight romps through the garden. Tickets are Adults $10, Children 12 and younger $5 and ALL PROCEEDS GO TO THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY.
