CHI using basketball, barbecue as lure for men’s health fair

Most men hate to go to the doctor and often are forced into it by their wives, but a Men’s Health Extravaganza at Community Health of South Florida Inc. (CHI) is promising to bring out the guys in droves with a unique approach to a health fair.

On Thursday, June 25, from 6 to 8 p.m., CHI will broadcast the NBA draft on a large screen and offer free barbecue at the Doris Ison Health Center, 10300 SW 216 St. While the temptation of the draft excitement and sweet, tangy barbecue might lure the men in, CHI hopes its free health screenings and education at the event will help change their lives forever.

“What could be better?” said Brodes H. Hartley Jr., CHI CEO/president. “Come out and enjoy watching the draft on our mega screen, enjoy good food in moderation and learn how to take care of yourself. We will have our medical experts here for free consultations. It’s a win, win for everyone!”

CHI’s men’s health celebrations always have been well attended. It’s a chance for men to focus on issues such as medical health, dental care, behavioral health, medication counseling, nutritional counseling and much more.

“Men tend to wait until a problem arises before they go for a health check up,” Hartley said. “Be proactive, get screened, so that you can be healthy enough to enjoy many more draft picks to come.”

Hartley even joked, cheering is allowed and this time the excitement will be more than just the free giveaways and valuable information. Seating is limited for the free event, so make your reservation today by calling 305-252-4853.
