The National Athletic Trainers’ Association named Columbus a Safe Sports School 1st Team, one of only two Florida high schools to gain the distinction. “We received the award because we offer an excellent athletic training facility that is well equipped to take care of students both physically and mentally,” said Brother Baker. NATA created the Safe Sports Award to recognize secondary schools that take steps to safeguard their athletes from injury. The NATASSS 1st Team Award is given to schools that have acted on all recommended and required elements of a safe sports school.
