Councilmember James McDonald has been appointed to the National League of Cities’ (NLC) 2013 Community and Economic Development Steering Committee.

This committee has the lead responsibility for developing NLC federal policy positions on issues involving housing, community and economic development, land use, recreation and parks, historic preservation, and international competitiveness. The appointment was announced by NLC President Marie Lopez Rogers, Mayor of Avondale, AZ.

“Pinecrest is finally beginning to feel the effects of a real recovery,” said McDonald. “It’s important that federal policies continue to provide the necessary environment for continued economic improvement. I am looking forward to working with colleagues from around the country and representing Pinecrest on these important matters.”

As a member of the committee, McDonald will play a key role in shaping NLC policy positions, while advocating on behalf of America’s municipalities on Capitol Hill, with the Obama Administration and at home.

The NLC is the nation’s oldest and largest organization devoted to strengthening and promoting municipalities as centers of opportunity, leadership and governance. NLC is a resource and advocate for 19,000 cities, towns and villages, representing more than 218 million Americans.
