Deering Estate presents the Deering Contemporary Exhibition “Interlocking Dimensions: Eco-Art” featuring a range of immersive, engaging, and didactic works of art created by several local artists not just about environmentalism and sustainability, but also about reconnecting with the living world in a meaningful and emotionally satisfying way.

The exhibit will be on display from January 21 to March 24, 2024. The opening reception for Interlocking Dimensions: Eco-Art at the Deering Contemporary will be on Sunday, January 21, 2024 from 12 -5pm. Guests are invited to experience performances by some of the artists during the opening reception. The opening reception is free with RSVP online.

Exhibiting artists include Andres Cabrera-Garcia, Annie Blazejack and Geddes Levenson with Laura Marsh, Barron Sherer, Briana Ortiz, Giannina Dwin with Susana Behar and Jorge Gonzalez-Graupera, Gretchen Scharnagl, Jeanne Jaffe, Lili(ana), Meg Wallace, Pangea Kali Virga, Tony Fernandez, and Tori Scott.

The participating artists will help us understand the relationships that constitute how we perceive, relate, and respond to other living entities in our social and natural worlds. These artists seek to reconnect with their genuine emotions and feelings by studying the relationship between our humanity as social beings and our natural surroundings. In this way, their stance on eco-art and the message they hope to spread is that eco-art can be seen as a powerful tool for self-discovery, coexistence, and placement in the world.

The works in the exhibition range from sculpture, installation, performance, and painting and will sprawl across the Estate’s grounds and in the Great Hall of the Stone House. There will also be workshops and other programs during the extent of the exhibition.
