In recent days, the world has witnessed decisive actions that reaffirm a shared commitment to freedom, democracy, and the rejection of authoritarian rule. For many in our community, developments impacting Venezuela are deeply personal. They reignite hope that the dream of a free and democratic society may soon become reality, not only in Venezuela, but also in Cuba, Nicaragua, and in all nations where people continue to live under oppression. The hope that these citizens may one day choose their leaders through elections that are democratic, free, transparent, and secure, without the legitimacy of their governments being questioned, is as strong as it has ever been.
As your Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections, my responsibility is clear: to safeguard the integrity of our elections while ensuring every eligible voter has the opportunity to participate confidently in our electoral process. Voting is more than a civic duty; it is the foundation of our democracy and the most powerful way for individuals to make their voices heard. Our office is committed to protecting that right through elections that are fair, accurate, transparent and accessible to all voters of Miami-Dade County.
Public participation is the heartbeat of democracy. Many members of our community come from places where the right to vote was restricted or denied altogether. Here in Miami-Dade, we are fortunate to live in a system where elections are secure, verifiable, and open to all eligible voters. Whether you choose to vote by mail, vote early when available, or vote on Election Day, our team works year-round to ensure each ballot is handled with care and every vote is counted accurately.
The year 2026 will be an important one for voters. Residents will have the opportunity to participate in municipal elections across our county, as well as statewide elections for Governor of Florida and federal races for the United States Senate and House of Representatives. These elections shape our communities, our state, and our nation. Being election-ready means staying informed, understanding the issues and candidates, and making a plan to vote. I encourage all voters to review their registration information and ensure it is up to date, including renewing a vote-by-mail request if they wish to vote by mail, as required by Florida law.
Beyond casting a ballot, there are meaningful ways to become directly involved in the election process. Our office is always looking for dedicated community members to serve as poll workers and assist on Election Day. Poll workers play a vital role in Miami-Dade elections by helping voters, ensuring polling places run smoothly, and upholding the professionalism and impartiality our elections demand. Serving as a poll worker is a rewarding way to contribute to democracy.
A strong democracy depends on informed, prepared, and engaged citizens. Our office stands ready to assist every voter, because your voice matters, and your participation strengthens us all.
