In addition to the beautiful homes, spacious parks, and safe streets we enjoy in our amazing village, Pinecrest is home to some of the best – and I mean outstanding – restaurants in all of Miami.

Some of you may not know this, but supporting your local businesses increases revenue received by our municipal government – which helps the village be able to make our city more and more beautiful. So, turn off your computer tonight – don’t order in – and head out to meet friends and neighbors at these awesome establishments… I’m going to give you the run down of some of my favorites, starting with breakfast.
One of the oldest restaurants in town, Wagons West in Suniland Mall, remains one of the best places around for a great breakfast – good, old-fashioned comfort food at its finest. This establishment, which ranks high in the “chow” column, has tons of character – and lots of characters – fun locals that are regulars. Sandy and Lin are such fun waitresses, too, so I am hopeful you get either one of these great servers at your table. Lunch is great there, too – but, give me a Wagons West Special any morning – I’m stuffed just thinking about it.
Also, Muffin Tin – just north of Suniland Park – has a great Cuban breakfast special. A plate loaded with eggs and croquettas and Cuban toast… Que rico!
If it’s nearing noon, it’s time for a quick lunch at Shula Burger – always a very good option. They just recently celebrated their one-year anniversary. If you were lucky enough to be there, Coach Shula even showed up to meet the guests. Conveniently located on the north side of Evelyn Greer Park, grab an awesome burger first, and then sneak over to Chill-N Nitrogen Ice Cream for a quick cup of the good stuff.
You’ve got to see the crazy way they make this ever-popular frozen deliciousness.
And then of course, there’s Flanagans. Ribs, Ribs, Ribs! They have so many great choices on their menu – pasta, sandwiches, burgers – served by a really fun wait staff. Is it me or does it seem as though there’s always a party happening there?
Ready for dinner? Miss Saigon Bistro can’t be beat. Vietnamese cuisine at its finest. Located across from the Dadeland South Metrorail Station, it is tremendous. I wish I could remember the name of this one dish – a pho noodle soup with crispy egg rolls and chicken – it is mind-blowing – which is probably why I can’t remember its name. And, the Thai donuts – drooling.
If you’re thinking more of a red sauce, try Ana Capri, or course. It is a staple among the Pinecrest crowd and it’s hard to walk in there without spotting a neighbor. The food is remarkable and, if you didn’t get enough, go to the market next door and take home some choice, imported Italian pastas, tomatoes. dry goods, cheeses, meats, Italian cookies, and wine – or chose from among one of Miami’s greatest selections of frozen pastas. Give it your best shot.
And, another long time favorite spot for the college crowd – go grab a really juicy burger or one of the best fish sandwiches around at Keg South. It’s a little tricky to park, but you’ll be glad you did.
