Fun camps slated for kids at the Gardens this summerWhen is a summer camp more than just summer camp? When the location of the camp is at picturesque Pinecrest Gardens!

There is no better summertime environment for your child than a camp set in the beautiful surroundings of Pinecrest Gardens. In addition to the themed activities included in each of our camps, the camp adventure might also include field activities like the exploration of our beautiful paths and scenic amenities, a natural canopy of native and exotic trees that provide shade in the heat of summer, and — more importantly — activities that are both stimulating and fun, while inspiring creativity in children of all ages.

Fun camps slated for kids at the Gardens this summerGame Tech Institute’s Robotics Camp — A robotics exploration where children build robots, learn about engineering, programming, have robot competitions, field activities and much more! Activities include robotics, field trips, field activities, engineering and computer programming in a fun and supportive environment.

Leapers and Creatures — VSAFL and Pinecrest Gardens presents an all-inclusive, hands-on art class that incorporates science, exploration and art in the Gardens. Project topics include amphibians, creatures in the garden, white swans (a threatened species) and nocturnal animals. Projects also involve exploration adventures in the Gardens. Both children and their parents are invited to stay on at the Gardens following camp time to use the petting zoo, splash ‘n play, playground and other amenities available. Select Saturdays: July 11, 18, 25, Aug. 1; from 10-11:30 a.m. For children 6 to 12; 5-year-olds are welcome with a parent;. Cost is $16 per class or $60 for the entire session. Fun camps slated for kids at the Gardens this summerNature Links for Life Long Learning — Continuing education for young adults with middle range intellectual disabilities. The Urban Explorers program trains underserved young adults (18-30 yrs old) to become fully engaged in learning from the city/county and navigating it independently through use of FDOT public transportation.

Participants will work in plant management and habitat restoration at Pinecrest Gardens, visit area museums and other cultural institutions, learn basic money management skills, create i-movies and art projects, learn culinary arts and healthy habits, weather and marine studies, make friends and community connections and study local wildlife. Classes are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.; two sessions: June 1-July 10; July 13- Aug. 23; cost: $300 per six-week session; scholarships available.
