The General Federation of Women’s Club’s District 11, which includes 11 clubs in Miami-Dade County, will join forces to participate in Clutch Burger’s Gringo Bingo, on May 7 from 7 – 10 p.m. This is not your ordinary bingo. The fun, food and games include music by celebrity DJ Germain who has donated his services to help Clutch Burger’s Steven Bradley pull off these wacky events for charity. $20 of the $25 charged for a ticket goes directly to the charity of the month. Ticket includes a plate of appetizers with a Clutch slider, one specialty drink or unlimited sodas. Bingo cards are $5 for 6 games. Local restaurants and vendors have generously provided amazing prizes for winners and thousands have already been raised for other charitable programs. The most recent Gringo Bingo on April 2 at Clutch Burger located at 146 Giralda on the Plaza netted more than $1,200.00 for the Coral Gables Children’s Dental Clinic. Since the beginning of this year through March 31, this clinic has provided $59,489.00 in free dental services for children throughout Miami Dade who fall between the cracks in the healthcare system. Dental Clinic Director Dr. Iris Torres and Club President Arely Ruiz praise Ana and Steven Bradley, owners of Clutch, for providing this wonderful opportunity to fund additional services for children in need. Speaking of charitable causes, the weekend of March 30, St. Louis Catholic Church held its annual Festival for the Poor. All the funds raised are donated throughout the community for countless worthy programs for the poor. Parishioners, community leaders, non profits and people of goodwill from all over attend this event enjoying great family friendly entertainment, rides, food, and a silent auction. The weekend even kicked off with a 5K Walk-Run. For the third year in a row, A Safe Haven for Newborns, one of the Festival’s beneficiaries, participated with its founder Nick Silverio and Ambassador Cathy Carrasquillo at a table sharing ASHFN mission that has thus far saved 230 babies from abandonment and possible death. Nick was most grateful to the Saint Louis committee and volunteers. Nick also lauded Ambassador Ann McCormick who introduced and ultimately connected ASHFN to the Festival.
Until next time, keep making each day count.
