GMC Yukon Denali put a twinkle in my eye like no luxury SUV

The powerful 6.2L V8 EcoTec3 engine of the 2020 GMC Yukon Denali is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission to offer best-in-class 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

It is a powerful machine that turns on a dime, on tight corners that might scare other big, luxury vehicles. Narrow roads on hills in the north are no big deal as this smooth operator cuts through the light and dark at comfortable and confident speeds.

It can tow up to 8,400 pounds, which can easily address a trailer for short and long hauls.

You also sit high in the seat, looking out over the road at a height that communicates authority and control.

On handling alone, it is worth every penny of the $67,700 sticker price. But it also gets 14 miles per gallon in the city and 23 on the highway.

So let’s talk specifically about the interior, which includes a tri-zone automatic climate control system. I say it is a system because it all works together, really hand-in-hand, to keep you warm in the cold and comfortable in the seat. Together you get heated and ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel, which you will wonder how you did without all these years. The heat is extended to the second row, as well, which will show your passengers that you care. And to make the experience complete, a Bose active noise cancellation feature that keeps things quiet on the inside and the noise on the outside.

The Denali brand is known for staying up to date with the latest tech, which always makes me happy. You get 4G LTE Wi-Fi, with a hotspot that lets you connect up to seven devices on the go.

Another great thing about the Yukon is the option to get an even bigger version for that extra punch.

The 2020 Yukon XL Denali has an overall length of 224.4 inches of space, cargo volume of 39.3 cubic feet and third row leg room of 34.5 inches.

If you get the 2021 Yukon XL, the overall length is 225.2 inches. There is room for a luxury level of cargo, with a volume of 41.5 cubic feet, especially if you drop the seats. And the third row leg room is 36.7 inches, which makes the vehicle experience superb.

As part of the overall chrome package, the 2020 version comes with a 20-inch bright machined aluminum rim. Also available are the 22-inch bright, machined rim with midnight silver premium paint and even a 22-inch version with a six-spoke chrome finish.

So beauty is not spared in this beast that both minds the road and dominates it like no one’s business.
