Gulliver announces Rothstein hired as girl’s volleyball coach

Gulliver has announced that it has hired Matthew Rothstein as the new head coach for its girls’ volleyball team for the coming 2015-16 school year. Rothstein brings nine years of coaching experience to the school’s athletic department.

“We are delighted to welcome Matt to the Gulliver family,” said Mark Schusterman, Gulliver’s athletic director. “We have a tremendous amount of respect for his coaching acumen and the quality of his character, and are certain he will both continue, and build on, our tradition of success.”

Rothstein’s experience working with students dates back to 2006, when he first started working as an assistant coach for both the boys’ and girls’ varsity teams at Coral Reef Senior High School. Rothstein was later appointed director and head coach for the Tribe Volleyball Club in Florida, where he supervised all head coaches in Florida’s South Region. In 2013, he opened Soflo Sand Volleyball Academy, where, in addition to being the owner, he also was the director of the program and taught sand volleyball to children ages 13-18.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to coach the Gulliver girls volleyball team,” Rothstein said. “Gulliver is an extraordinary school with an esteemed sports program, and I cannot wait to gain memorable experiences with such a qualified team.”

Rothstein earned a bachelor’s degree in digital cinema from Lindenwood University, where he was a member of the men’s volleyball team driving 2009-10. Later this year, he expects to graduate with an associate degree in network technology services from Miami-Dade College.
