The Deering Estate presents Interwoven Echoes, a one-of-a-kind arts experience where dance, live music and nature collide. Enjoy a contemporary dance performance choreographed by Nicole Pedraza, Deering Estate Artist-in-Residence, accompanied by dancers and musicians.
Interwoven Echoes will take place on Sunday, March 3 at 3 p.m. at the Courtyard, followed by a Q&A session at 3:45 p.m. It is a contemporary dance work in which movement mirrors the delicate threads that bind us to the natural world. This unique event seamlessly weaves together the worlds of dance, live music, and the beauty of nature, promising an unforgettable experience that challenges conventional notions of performance art.

Highlights of the Performance:
Contemporary Dance Excellence: Professional contemporary dance artists will deliver a performance that transcends traditional boundaries. Expect innovative choreography that reflects the diversity of human expression and emotion.

About the Artists:
Nicole Pedraza is a professional dancer, choreographer, educator, arts administrator and filmmaker of Nicaraguan and Mexican descent. Born and raised in Miami, Nicole is a New World School of the Arts alum where she performed works by renowned choreographers including Ohad Naharin, Robert Battle, Paul Taylor, Jennifer Archibald, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Rena Burler and Ronald K. Brown. Nicole has danced professionally with Mike Tyus & Company, Zest Collective, Syncopate Collective, Peter London Global Dance Company, and more. Nicole is currently working on collaborative transdisciplinary art experiences integrating dance, film, visual art and technology.
Nicole has won several grants and residencies including Locust Projects Wavemaker Grant, NWSA Alumni Inspiration Grant, and the Deering Estate artist residency. Nicole has appeared on the South Florida PBS special “Art Loft” Season 10 as a choreographer/dancer for Miami DanceMakers 2021 and was a selected artist for The Peace Studio’s Artist as Catalyst Program 2022-2023. Nicole’s collaborative dance films have been official selections in several film festivals in Miami, West Palm Beach, Chile, and Puerto Rico. Additionally, Nicole is also the Education and Outreach Coordinator at The Moss Center and has been a teaching artist for students of all ages and levels since 2017.
Dancers:
Maria Burt is a Miami native and professional dance artist. She graduated from New World School of the Arts where she performed works by Robert Battle, Ohad Naharin, Mark Morris, Paul Taylor, and others. She currently dances with Adele Myers and Dancers, Syncopate Collective, and recently performed at the Arsht Center with Peter London Global Dance Company. Maria continues to delve deeper into herself as an artist, performer, and human being, researching movement as an expressive vocabulary.
Enrique Villacreses is a Miami-based dancer, choreographer, and filmmaker and is an alum of New World School Arts. His works have been supported by several local and national organizations. His dance films have been official selections in several film festivals and he has co-directed and edited several music videos and films. He is a founding member of Syncopate Collective and has performed works by Mike Tyus and Luca Francesco Renzi, Rena Butler, Natasha Tsakos, Robert Battle, Mark Morris, Ohad Naharin, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Merce Cunningham, Eduardo Vilaro, Peter London and others.
Jesus Sandoval was born in Barranquilla, Colombia and raised in Miami, FL, where he found his passion for dance at the age of 14. He trained in Ballet, Hip Hop, and Contemporary dance while attending high school and went on to graduate with a BFA in Dance from New World School of Arts/UF. He has danced professionally for several companies and has learned choreographic works by Eduardo Vilaro, Robert Battle, Jennifer Archibald, Rena Butler and others.
Musician Biographies:
Diego Melgar is recognized for his dynamic musical style that echoes his experience as a first-generation immigrant by bridging different musical cultures through genre-bending hybrid live-electronic sets. He fuses his passion for the history of the guitar with the innovations of Miami’s electronic music scene. Diego’s nearly decade-long career has led him to perform with Lauren Jauregui, Michael Tilson Thomas, Suzi Analouge, Pioneer Winter and to open for other iconic artists such as Khruangbin, Flo Rida, Robert Glasper, Flying Lotus, Common, and Deantoni Parks
Dani Ferreira Amaro is a professional vocalist, composer, and interdisciplinary performance artist. Dani is an alumni of the National YoungArts program in Jazz Voice, and holds a passion for musical improvisation and multi-disciplinary collaboration with over 9 years of experience. As a first generation American of Brazilian and Cuban background, they weave together elements of vocal percussion, improvisation, and harmonic choral modalities in spontaneous composition. They have performed original works at The Highline in New York, the Perez Art Museum, The Colony Theater, YoungArts, and III POINTS Arts and Technology festival.

Deering Estate, located at 16701 SW 72 Ave. in Miami, is a 21st Century house museum, cultural and ecological field station, and a national landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places, owned by the State of Florida and managed by Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department. Deering Estate is designated as one of seven Miami-Dade County “Heritage Parks” which have a vital role in our community’s history, environment and in providing recreational and cultural experiences.
