The holidays are upon us once again, and there is no better time than the present to start primping and planning for the busy season ahead. Celebrations are plentiful during this special time and making certain you look your best will only help you capture more out of every moment while you are creating memories. I have always noticed a surge in the amount of plastic surgery and aesthetic procedures performed during this time. Everyone is trying to get a jump on looking and feeling their absolute best.
Here are the some of the most popular products and services offered during the holiday season in our practice:
Skin Treatments – Regardless of how much skin a plastic surgeon can tuck or tighten, the tone, texture, and complexity of your skin is one of the most fundamental aspects towards your goal of true beauty. Great skin is truly the canvas and foundation upon which beauty is built. There are countless numbers of skincare brands and products available on the market today, and to many people this is very overwhelming. In essence, you just need a consistent daily routine to reap all the rewards of good and healthy skin. Your regime should include an oil-free cleanser, an antioxidant serum (i.e. Vitamin C), a daily moisturizer appropriate for your skin type, and a high quality sunblock. A retinoid-based product is essential for nightly use to encourage cell turnover, increase collagen production, and improve your skin complexity. I encourage all of my patients to take advantage of a complimentary assessment of their skin with one of our certified skincare aestheticians. While some products may be expensive, they usually last for a significant amount of time if used appropriately. For example, a $200 gift card will stock you with a 3-6 month supply of products. Your best results are revealed after a routine has been established and the products have been used consistently for a minimum of 6 weeks. The changes will be gradual but long-lasting. One of the most requested aesthetic services in our practice is the Hydrafacial MD. The treatment is about one hour in duration and serves not only to hydrate and purify but to infuse a special blend of antioxidants into the skin that will leave you glowing and refreshed for weeks to come. Lasers and deep chemical peels performed by physician assistants or plastic surgeons are other ways to compliment facial treatments and yield long-lasting results.
Injectables – I am sure you are quite familiar with the most popular names for injectables on the market today: Botox, Dysport, Juvederm, Voluma, and Restylane. These are all superb and highly transformative products for a quick improvement in facial wrinkles and facial volume with minimal down time. The results are immediate and the cost can be well kept within your budget. The pricing with these products can range anywhere from $500 to $1000 per treatment. The most common non-invasive procedure I perform during the holiday season is the injection of neurotoxins (i.e. Botox and Dysport) to help diminish frown lines and forehead wrinkles.
Aesthetic Surgeries – The volume of cosmetic surgery procedures also spikes during the holidays, in particular with facial surgeries. You may be thinking: Who wants a facelift before their New Year’s party? However, many of my patients prefer the holidays for more invasive facial procedures, such as facelifts and eyelid surgery, because they have more time for recuperating while swelling and bruising improve. It usually takes 1-2 weeks to recover from these procedures. The results will continue to improve over the next 4-6 weeks after surgery. What better time than the holidays to recover at home without having to use up your vacation time?
For those with a very active social calendar during the holidays, their best bet is to stay away from any surgical procedures at least for 3-6 months before any important event. Instead, they can enjoy the benefits of less invasive procedures and treatments such as professional skin care, neurotoxins, and facial fillers.
Best wishes for an abundant holiday season!
