Former Pinecrest Councilmember Jeffrey Cutler was appointed by the Miami-Dade League of Cities to the Miami- Dade Ethics Commission. He is a Partner in the Coral Gables law firm of De La Cruz & Cutler, LLP, specializing in Commercial, Corporate, Civil, and Personal Injury law, transactions, and litigation.
Cutler was elected as a Councilmember of the Village of Pinecrest in November 2006, re-elected in November 2010, and served as Vice-Mayor from 2008 to 2009 and 2012 to 2013. The native Miamian and University of Florida alumnus is also an active member in many national and local legal and business associations, including the American and Florida Bar Associations and Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.
He volunteers as the Legal Counsel to the Howard-Palmetto Baseball & Softball Association, and also volunteers as Legal Counsel and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Miami-Dade Miracle League. Following his swearing in, Cutler will begin his four-year term as an Ethics Commissioner at the next regular meeting in October, 2015.
The Ethics Commission was created in 1996 as an independent agency with advisory and quasi-judicial powers. The mission of the Ethics Commission is to ensure the integrity of both the governmental decision-making and electoral process, to restore and maintain public confidence in government, and to serve as the guardian of the public trust. It is composed of five members, each serving staggered terms of four years. Through a program of education, outreach and enforcement, the Commission seeks to empower our community and bolster public trust in government.
