Spring is here at Pinecrest Gardens. This season we welcome the World Happiness Foundation, exciting performances, hands-on workshops, and immersive nature experiences.
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS THIS MONTH:
Chino Nunez Orchestra: Salsa Extravaganza | Friday, April 4, 8 p.m.
Multi-Grammy, Latin Grammy, and Billboard Award-winning Chino Nuñez presents the evolution of salsa music, tracing its roots through the rich tapestry of jazz, mambo, merengue, and cha-cha. Nuñez illustrates how these vibrant genres merged to create salsa, captivating audiences with the history and rhythms of Latin America and New York City’s iconic 1970s nightlife.
Nuñez will be joined by musical guests Edwin Lebron, Celeste “La Fiera,” Kissis Munoz, Benny Rios, and Alexandra Alban. Tickets are available at pinecrestgardens.org/tropicalnights.
Family Garden Day “Let’s Get Happi” | Saturday, April 5, 10:30 a.m.
Join us for Family Garden Day and spend the day learning, growing and playing. Take part in our Happiness theme through hands-on activities and exhibitions throughout the Gardens. Meet our garden team, partners and plant societies featuring family- friendly activities. Get your fill of splashing, climbing, and exploring with access to the Garden’s amenities all day. Live performances and entertainment on our Meadow stage will keep the whole family entertained. A special sensory hour runs from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. featuring limited admission, a sensory room, and early access for cognitive-sensitive families. ADULT WORKSHOP:
Basket Weaving 101 Workshop | Thursday, April 3, 6:30 p.m.
Learn to create something beautiful and utilitarian from nature in our basket weaving 101 workshop. Through guided instruction, you’ll weave a basket from natural materials and yarn. No experience necessary. All materials and tools will be provided. This meditative craft will relax and rejuvenate your spirit, while incorporating foraged items from the Gardens. You’ll leave the workshop with your very own handmade basket, and an appreciation of this historically significant art.
YOUTH PROGRAM:
Little Lizards: Pollinators | Wednesday, April 2, 2 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Join us as we learn about the world’s most important pollinators! Did you know that some bee hives have over 40,000 bees living together, or that a caterpillar can double in size in just one day? In April we’re learning all about the wonders of pollinators this month.
