Estate planning, probate, and guardianship attorney Lian de la Riva, a partner with the Florida law firm of Markowitz Ringel Trusty + Hartog, P.A. (MRTH), has been elected the 2022 National Secretary of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA).

Lian is actively involved in the Hispanic legal community, serving on the Board of Directors of the HNBA and the Guatemalan-Maya Center. In March of 2022, she was the recipient of the HNBA’s ‘Top Lawyers under 40’ Award which celebrates and highlights the accomplishments and contributions of HNBA members who have distinguished themselves in the legal profession. Lian served as the 2021/22 Chair of the Young Lawyer’s Division of the HNBA and is a 2021 South Florida Legal Guide Up & Comer and a member of the Young Lawyers Section and Elder Law Section of The Florida Bar.

A member of the firm’s Probate & Guardianship group, Lian concentrates her practice in the areas of estate planning, probate and guardianship law. She represents professional fiduciaries, beneficiaries, and incapacitated individuals in all stages of a complex administration and litigated guardianship, probate, or trust matters. Lian also acts as a court-appointed trustee and curator. In 2017, she was named a Fellow of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar for a two-year term. Lian holds a J.D. from Florida International University College of Law and a B.A. from Florida International University.
