Pinecrest Gardens invites you back for music concerts, visual art and learning to care for your own bonsai tree.

BEETHOVEN IN THE BOWL
Friday, March 15, 8 p.m.
Orchestra Miami’s popular series of outdoor concerts returns! This year’s special guest soloist is Principal Cellist Aaron Merritt, who will perform the exciting Saint-Saëns’ Cello Concerto N. 1 in A Minor, Op. 33. Also on the program is the dramatic Overture to Don Giovanni by Mozart and the joyous “Italian” Symphony N. 4 in A Major by Mendelssohn. And of course, we have Beethoven – the Overture to the ballet The Creatures of Prometheus Op. 43. The 42 musicians of Orchestra will be led by Artistic Director Elaine Rinaldi.
ART IN THE GARDENS: GALLERY CRAWL
Saturday, March 16, 5 p.m.
Join us for three new exhibition openings hosted by Pinecrest Gardens and generously sponsored by Pita Weber Del Prado Law Firm and Filipe Da Rocha Realtor.
“Oolite Art in the Gardens”
This exhibition showcases the artworks of Oolite Arts Organization’s resident artists. Oolite Arts is Miami’s largest artist support organization. This exhibition is curated by Hartvest Project in collaboration with Oolite Arts Organization.
“Elevation Markers”
This exhibit focuses on sustainable concrete elevation sculptures created by Xavier Cortada for all 287 parks in Miami-Dade County. This exhibition is in collaboration with the Cortada Foundation, Miami-Dade County Mayor’s Office, Miami-Dade County Parks Department, and University of Miami College of Engineering.
“Currents”
This exhibition is a collection of works following the artist Michael Gray’s family history while referencing natural disasters, allegorical mythologies, and natural systems set in the surreal landscape of Florida.
JAZZ AT PINECREST GARDENS: BILL CHARLAP TRIO
Saturday, March 16, 8 p.m.
Pinecrest Gardens presents celebrated Grammy award-winning pianist Bill Charlap together with his trio ensemble – bassist Peter Washington and drummer Kenny Washington. Charlap is known for his interpretations of American popular songs and has recorded albums featuring the music of Hoagy Carmichael, Leonard Bernstein and George Gershwin. Time magazine wrote, “Bill Charlap approaches a song the way a lover approaches his beloved…no matter how imaginative or surprising his take on a song is, he invariably zeroes in on its essence.”
LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD
Sunday, March 17, 3 p.m.
Orchestra Miami presents an operatic version of the classic fairy tale. Little Red Riding Hood, set to music by Seymour Barab. Performed in a fully staged production by three professional opera singers with music direction by Elaine Rinaldi.
WORKSHOP: INTRO TO BONSAI
Thursday, March 21, 6:30 p.m.
In this intro to Bonsai course, our Bonsai Specialist will guide you through the process of transforming an average plant to a piece of bonsai art! You’ll receive your very own tree and the tools to get started on this horticultural art. Together we will learn shape, how to wire, proper pruning and more. Class includes guided instruction from bonsai specialist, Glenn Hilton, President of the Bonsai Society of Miami. Take home your tree, and wire and apply the knowledge you’ve learned to begin the art of Bonsai. This class is appropriate for adults ages 21+. Pre-registration required.
