Palmetto Bay welcomes new businesses

As the pandemic subsides, there are efforts to promote and strengthen local businesses.

One such effort has the Village of Palmetto Bay and the Palmetto Bay Business Association PBBAonline.com in a new partnership effort to welcome and highlight new businesses in the Village with ribbon-cuttings.

The first ribbon-cutting ceremony occurred May 7. GreatFlorida Insurance franchisee Tamara Mourino moved into Palmetto Bay after 12 years in business elsewhere.

Mourino said she is excited and motivated by the efforts of the Palmetto Bay Business Association and the Village, especially Mayor Cunningham and new Village Manager Nick Marano.

“The actual process of starting the business in Palmetto Bay wasn’t particularly smooth, likely due to COVID, but after we got past all that process it was particularly satisfying and liberating,” said Mourino. “Once the ribbon-cutting happened, I felt we could really get down to business, helping educate people for their insurance needs. The support of local business owners has been invigorating and very much appreciated.”

GreatFlorida Insurance employs eight staffers as trusted advisors on all kinds of insurance.

Whether it be personal or business insurance, they cover every facet of insurance from home and auto to life and health to cyber liability and malpractice.

On May 15, Bright Adventures Academy enjoyed their own ribbon-cutting ceremony and is now known as the 15th active school in the Village of Palmetto Bay.

“It is an honor to join so many great schools in Palmetto Bay and we are excited,” said owner Lilliam Norda-Gomez. “We know that the reason people move here is because they have so many great educational choices and we are thrilled to become part of this community.”

The Palmetto Bay Business Association, along with Mayor Cunningham, Councilpersons Cody and Matson, plus Village Manager Nick Marano joined Lilliam and her husband Jeanny Gomez, 10-year old daughter Valeria and other family in a great ribbon-cutting.

“It was fantastic to open our school here,” explained Lilliam. “Even through Covid-19 and its restrictions, the process was smooth. And today’s event was amazing, extraordinary, just perfect. I couldn’t imagine a better way to start our ‘bright adventure’ surrounded by such support.”

There was plenty of food on hand, a well-used bounce house and lots of friends and family. And that was a perfect environment for Bright Adventures Academy to open in, as school is so much about “it takes a village” mentality.

The school is proud to boast an early drop off of 6:30 a.m. to busy parents who need to get a jump on their commute. They are also open until 6:30 p.m. providing everything from simple daycare to creative curriculum pre-school to a VPK program (begins in August). Bright Adventures Academy is located at 17925 SW 97 Avenue, in the shadows of Village Hall. Video of the ribbon-cutting event can be viewed at: youtu.be/caf1qfzg6EI
