Mieko Avello, a Japananse instructor at Miami Palmetto Senior High, recently received the Hall of Fame Award from Florida Foreign Language Association. The award, which is given to the teacher who has received the “Most Valuable Teacher” award at least five times, was presented at the association’s fall conference in St. Augustine.

Miami Palmetto Senior High is the only traditional neighborhood public school in Miami-Dade county to offer Japanese language instruction.
