Panter, Panter & Sampedro has selected Joanna Shillingford of Miami Killian Senior High School as the 2022 recipient of the Lorraine Silverstein Law Studies Scholarship. The scholarship was presented to Shillingford during the Miami Killian Senior High School Awards Ceremony, on Wednesday, May 19.
Shillingford demonstrated a strong commitment to the law program throughout her entire high school career as an ISLA student. She participated at the highest level in all aspects of the Miami Killian Law Program with pride. As a part of the We the People Constitutional Law team last year, she distinguished herself by stepping up under very challenging conditions. She emerged as a leader of her unit and worked with a second unit in preparing and presenting their questions for competition.
“Lorraine Silverstein retired in 2011 and passed away in 2016,” says Mitchell Panter, managing partner of Panter, Panter & Sampedro. “There were many students who learned so much from this amazing educator. Miami Killian is forever grateful to all that she gave, not only to students, but to the entire Killian Family. We are pleased to honor Mrs. Silverstein’s legacy with the annual Lorraine Silverstein Law Studies Scholarship. This year’s recipient, Joanna Shillingford, is incredibly well-rounded, hardworking, energetic and motivated. In addition to her dedication to the law studies program, we were privileged to listen to her inspiring historical and cultural messages during the month of February to celebrate African American History Month. Ms. Shillingford’s future is bright, and we can’t wait to see what she does in the future.”
