On Saturday, March 12, 2022, Pinecrest City Music Project (PCMP) will host its annual South Dade Schools ArtsFest at Pinecrest Gardens located at 11000 S.W. 57th Avenue. The event is open to the public and will run from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Jazz, orchestral, and band groups will perform in a staggered layout throughout the venue, allowing attendees to walk through Pinecrest Gardens and enjoy the performances.
South Dade Schools ArtsFest serves to highlight the music and visual arts programs within local Miami-Dade Public Schools. ArtsFest, in partnership with Miami-Dade County, Miami-Dade County Public Schools and the Village of Pinecrest, welcomes students and performers from all disciplines, seeking to promote their talents in celebration of National Arts in Our Schools Month.
“Pinecrest City Music Project was founded on the impact and vital role that communities play in arts education in our mission to develop holistic leaders both in and outside of the classroom,” said Executive Director Ava Goldenberg. “The South Dade Schools ArtsFest is honored to spread the positive influence of the arts to a larger audience while engaging as many students as possible in the South Dade community and beyond.”
In compliance with COVID-19 guidelines set forth by the Village of Pinecrest and Miami-Dade County. Guests can appreciate students’ works in the visual arts, such as fashion/design, visual art, photography, and poetry, showcased by walking through the galleries. Visitors can then make their way to the Banyan Bowl, an open-air and acoustically dynamic amphitheater housed under a geodesic dome, to view drama and poetry performances on a projector screen.
Guests will have the opportunity to purchase lunch, snack, and dessert offerings from a variety of Miami-based mobile dining and food truck vendors. Members of the community can donate to ArtsFest by accessing the online donations platform at https://www.pcmpmusic.org/.
This event is conducted with the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners.
“Producing ArtsFest is an important opportunity to assemble all of the artistic talent from our district’s schools and showcase it collectively so that members of our community are able to enjoy it as audience members all at once,” said Artistic Director Christina Perez. “It is essential for all of our artists in training to be able to exhibit and perform for the public and PCMP is committed to making this possible.”
