Pinecrest Gardens Celebrates the Queen of Salsa’s Centennial and music greats

Pinecrest Gardens and The Village of Pinecrest unveil a special exhibition and present three nights of concerts to celebrate the centennial of Celia Cruz, the Queen of Salsa. It is the first centennial celebration of Celia Cruz in South Florida.

CELIA CRUZ CENTENNIAL 1925-2025 EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:

Celia Cruz Exhibition | On view through February 2, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily
The Celia Cruz Centennial Celebration exhibition spotlights Cruz’s golden era, 1950-1965, showcasing her remarkable career through photographs, personal documents, iconic dresses and her unforgettable music from her collaboration with La Sonora Matancera. Access to the exhibition is included with gardens admission.

Celia Cruz Celebration Concert presented by Bacardí | Saturday, February 1 and Sunday, February 2
Experience a dazzling evening of glamour and tropical elegance transporting you to 1950s Havana. Celebrate the centennial of Celia Cruz with an electrifying performance by Lucrecia as Celia with the Celia Cruz All Stars. JAZZ AT PINECREST GARDENS:

Kandace Springs Trio | Saturday, February 8, 8 p.m.
Praised by Prince for having “a voice that could melt snow,” Kandace Springs and her all-female ensemble effortlessly blend soul, pop and jazz. Springs, influenced by her Nashville upbringing and her father, Scat Springs, a respected session singer, developed a deep love for music from an early age. Springs’ concert features songs from her latest Blue Note Records album The Women Who Raised Me. She pays tribute to iconic female vocalists like Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Astrid Gilberto, Sade, Norah Jones, and more.

YOUTH PROGRAMS:

Little Lizards: Flowers | Wednesday, February 5 and 19, 2 p.m.
Learn all about flowers, from the ones that grow in our learning garden to the flowers that grow on our roadsides.

Parent & Me | Weekdays, 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Daily classes are offered by the Pinecrest Dance Project for toddlers ages 1 to 3. These 50-minute daily sessions include Music Mondays, Science Tuesdays, Gymnastics Wednesdays, Art Thursdays, and Dance Fridays. ADULT PROGRAMS:

Garden Tour: The History of the Gardens | Saturday, February 1, 10 a.m.
This tour will teach about the history of Pinecrest Gardens from nudist colony to tourist attraction to cultural arts center and living museum. Discover the story of Pinecrest Gardens. On the guided tour of the gardens, participants will learn about the historic and cultural significance of the property. Pre-registration is required. Includes admission and access to amenities.

Botanical Candle Making Workshop | Thursday, February 6, 6:30 p.m.
Participants will make their own candles during this workshop while enjoying an adult beverage. Materials and first beverage are included with registration.

COMMUNITY EVENTS:

Her Bazaar Market | Saturday, February 1, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Support female small business owners by shopping for apparel, accessories, gift items, food, home goods and other products.

Art Conversation: Artist Are Present | Saturday, February 1, 11:30 a.m.
The Artist Are Present exhibition features a selection of photographs and still images in which the artist’s presence is the subject, object and medium of their work. The conversation will be about the ephemeral, time-based and media-based works and the presence of local artists in their works.
