Zombies take over Pinecrest on Saturday, October 18, during the annual Zombie Run at Evelyn Greer Park. Powered by Baptist Health, this family-friendly event invites participants of all ages to complete a two-mile course filled with lighthearted scares, surprise encounters, and a mission to find the antidote that could save humanity.
“This event brings our community together for a fun, healthy activity that appeals to all ages,” said Robert Mattes, Pinecrest Parks and Recreation director. “It’s awesome to see families, fitness enthusiasts, and even pets participating in this unique Halloween tradition.”
Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. A pre-run warm-up is scheduled for 5:45 p.m., with the race starting at 6 p.m. Additional activities include a 40-foot zombie maze, photo booth and live music throughout the evening. Food and beverages will be sold on-site during the event.
Tickets cost $25 until October 18. Same-day registration is $30. All zombie fighters will receive a commemorative event t-shirt while supplies last.
The Pinecrest Parks and Recreation Department is recruiting volunteers to portray zombies during the run. Want to be part of the zombie horde? Interested volunteers can register through the department’s website: www.pinecrest-fl.gov/zombie.
Parking won’t be scary thanks to three convenient locations. The main staging area will be at Evelyn Greer Park, with backup locations at the Village of Pinecrest Municipal Center, 12645 Pinecrest Pkwy., and Suniland Park, 12855 Pinecrest Pkwy. A shuttle service will transport participants from Suniland Park to the main venue.
The zombie-themed run combines fitness activities with Halloween entertainment. Baptist Health leads a monster lineup of sponsors, including Pinecrest Parks and Recreation, #FitCrest, Bunda Pinecrest, Teknica Jiu Jitsu, S.T.A.R.S., Stemtree, OHM Fitness, VEG ER for Pets, Orange Theory Fitness Pinecrest, Skintima MD, and Truly Nolen Pest Control. The event welcomes participants of all ages and skill levels, as well as four-legged companions.
