In August, Rambam Day School at Temple Beth Am (formerly named Temple Beth Am Day School) opened the doors to its brand-new school building. The new building now reflects the type of future-focused learning that happens there. From innovation labs to maker spaces to flexible classroom seating, every part of Rambam’s new building has become a space for learning and fostering community. At 82,000 square feet, Rambam’s new building provides an array of both formal and informal learning areas. The classrooms and hallways are pulsating with students working collaboratively, creatively exploring the world around them, and interacting socially with their classmates.
Over the last several years, Rambam has grown from 364 students to more than 520 students, with around 280 students in the religious school. The new school building allows Rambam to fulfill its responsibility to the greater Jewish community to ensure that they can accept families who not only want a Jewish education, but who are seeking a first-rate curriculum and programming.
And there is still more to come.
Thanks to Senior Rabbi Jeremy Barras’s vision and guidance, Temple Beth Am’s membership has also increased to more than 1,600 families over the last five years. Pre-Covid, Temple Beth Am’s programs were consistently filled to capacity.
“It is no secret that people relate differently to houses of worship than they used to,” said Barras. “We are planning, within the framework of our tradition, to meet those evolving needs of our members and the community.”
Enter “The Hub,” the final phase of the project, set to open in spring 2023.
The Hub will feature new cultural and athletic centers (the “Lampen Sachar Outdoor Cultural Life Center” and the “Poyastro Family Athletic Center”) and a state-of-the-art performing arts center (the “Frankel Family Performing Arts Center”), which can convert to a small chapel.
“Beth Am is experiencing incredible growth in all facets of our congregation,” said Rabbi Barras. “As we grow, our new Hub center will offer the finest home for Jewish culture, activity, and spirituality.”
Added Judge David Young, President of the Temple, “The Hub is a wonderful opportunity for the entire Pinecrest community to come together to enjoy all the great programming here at Beth Am.”
Whether they’re grabbing a cup of coffee at the Top Nosh Café, enjoying an outdoor movie on the lawn, or hosting an intimate wedding in the chapel, community members will have endless opportunities to take advantage of these beautiful new facilities.
