Shopping carts full of gifts for Pinecrest’s Annual Toy Drive were donated by the Rotary Club of Pinecrest. When Rotary President, Clara Powell, found out about the toy drive she collected $600 from Rotary members and donated it toward buying gifts for the drive.

To make it extra special and help Clara (also known as Mrs. Claus) we set a “shop with a cop” date for a recent morning. Officer Mayra Oliva, who recently received the Officer of the Year Award from the Rotary Club for helping locate a veteran in distress, accompanied Clara.

They came out of the local Target store with shopping carts full of toys and smiles on their faces. The toy drive was started by Detective Paul Rivera many years ago and continues to grow each year. The gifts are donated to foster children in Miami-Dade County.

As a side note, we must mention that not only did Clara come dressed for the occasion, but she also styled Officer Oliva.
