Scary Story Writing Contest Awards Night

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The Rotary Club of Pinecrest sponsored a writing contest open to ALL 4th and 5th graders at Palmetto and Pinecrest Elementary Schools. Students were asked to submit an original scary, haunting ghostly short story, 300 to 600 words long. The response was overwhelming and a team of eight members of the Rotary Club read each story and rated them.

The contestants and parents were invited to the SCARY STORY WRITING CONTEST AWARDS NIGHT on Thursday, Oct. 26 at Coral Pine Park (multipurpose room) in Pinecrest.

There was an overflow attendance with standing room in the back. Refreshments were served and all of the children received Halloween goodie bags. Every contestant received a beautiful participation certificate and the best story writers were awarded a trophy. The winners in Palmetto Elementary were Zander Keshavarzi, Stella Kish and Ethan Erasmous (first, second and third place, respectively). The winners in Pinecrest Elementary were Alexander Greeley-Kutateladze, Christina Chang and Tatum Rhatigan (first second, and third places respectively).

Special thanks to Susan Lichtman for organizing this event and all of her fellow Rotarians, and to the students, faculty, principals and parents of the students. For information about the Rotary Club of Pinecrest contact Robert Bull at rhbull.rotary@gmail.org or call 305-733-3704.
