Sesame Street Shabbat on Sept. 19

There is something about Elmo that every child loves. My son was taught to pull up to standing by putting an Elmo doll on a high step. That was before he had ever seen Sesame Street. He was in love.

I see it again and again; kids love Elmo. Chronically three-and-a-half-years old, cuddly, loving, friendly and very advanced for his age, I think of him as a positive influence on my children.

As a parent, I love Sesame Street. Introducing new words, teaching letters and numbers, telling stories, teaching proper behavior – not to mention that some of my favorite musical artists have been on the show. It’s just good stuff.

That is why I am so excited to be celebrating Sesame Street Shabbat here at Temple Beth Am on Friday, Sept. 19! School will have started and the high holidays are beginning the following week. Let’s all come together as families who have young children and celebrate Shabbat with our kids, our friends, new faces, and some amazing monsters like Elmo, Ernie and Bert. Cookie will be there as well.

We try and offer things that speak to our members at every age. This Shabbat, we will open our doors to all the people in our neighborhood, as well as friendly monsters, and celebrate a day of rest, relaxation and renewal. Please join us!

Following services, there will be a deliciously catered dinner, face painting, an inflatable obstacle course, a bounce house, an arts-and-crafts station, picture taking and so much more.

For more information and registration, call Rita Diaz at 786.364.9434 or go to www.tbam.org. The dinner charge is $25 adults, $13 for children 6-12 and $5 for children 2-5 years

I look forward to celebrating with my children as well as yours.

B’Ahavah (with love).
