The 2016 Infiniti QX50 is the quintessential crossover luxury car.

The 2016 Infiniti QX50 is the quintessential crossover luxury car. Designed with adequate room, powerful engine and great handling, the QX50 provides the space you need and the great ride you want. This year, Infiniti has introduced more standard features as well as a new Premium Plus package to further customize the QX50.

For this year’s model, Infiniti has made some minor, but welcomed changes. For one, the wheelbase has been stretched to add 4.3 inches of legroom in the rear seat. This is a huge improvement from previous model years which left many in the backseat feeling cramped. Some exterior styling has been tweaked a bit from last year but the most notable change is the addition of more standard features such as a sunroof, heated seats and LED daytime lights.

Other standard equipment in the QX50 include: leather upholstery, a rear view camera, Bluetooth, eight-way power driver seat, four- way power passenger seat, 60/40 split folding rear seatbacks, keyless entry and ignition, heated front seats, a trip computer, USB and aux cord inputs and dual- zone climate control. Additionally, the QX50 comes with several package options that add more features. One such package is the newly introduced Premium Plus package, which includes a touchscreen navigation system, Bluetooth audio streaming, a 360-degreee camera system and front and rear parking sensors. Other options are the Premium, Deluxe Touring, and Technology packages.

This year, the QX50 remains a fun, sporty ride with the help of its powerful engine. It is a 3.7-liter V6 engine that makes 325 horsepower and is capable of 267 pound-feet of torque. The QX50 comes standard with rear-wheel drive but all-wheel drive is available. For the standard rear-wheel drive, the fuel economy is 17 city/ 25. Fuel economy drops slightly for the all-wheel drive option. Infiniti did not change much for the way the QX50 rides and that is for the best. With such responsive and sporty handling, there is no need to fix what isn’t broken.

As far as the 2016 QX50’s interior, some of its best features lie in its utilitarian upgrades. A moderately more elevated ride height makes access easier and there is a power-raise function for the folding rear seats, which is quite convenient. Aesthetically, the QX50’s interior is one of the best looking in its class. The front wraps around the driver in a cockpit-style layout, which is accented by a big LCD screen. Beautiful tones abound in its upholstery and soft white lighting. Infiniti placed emphasis on the QX50’s interior details, including even real wood inlays.

The 2016 Infiniti QX50, which was previously known as the EX, remains one of the best luxury crossover vehicles you can get. This year, however, Infiniti made some smart upgrades including more room, more standard features, the addition of a top package option and minor tweaks to its overall look. The QX50 has a great combination of a good ride, great features and luxurious looks that is difficult to come by.

The MSRP for the 2016 Infiniti QX50 is $34,450.
