The Ideal Art of Permanence

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

In those magic moments when all your troubles seem so far away, you might do something unexpected.

Imagine being eighteen years old. Now imagine you own a home, and you have the freedom to design your house — the living room, the bedroom, the family room, the kitchen, and the garden. Imagine how exciting this opportunity would be.

However, imagine if there was a catch, like an old Twilight Zone episode, or if you are young, a Black Mirror one. For example, you would be free to do whatever you want – whatever colors, whatever accessories, whatever interior designer, and however you would like to organize everything. The complication is this: even though you can do whatever you like and put everything wherever you like, once you do this, it cannot be moved, changed, relocated, replaced, repainted, or modified aside from adding new permanent things for the rest of your life. Would you accept this scenario or reconsider?

Let’s take another situation. Now you are 21 and you are considering a new car. You can get any and all the features that you like. Any color, any style, any design, any configuration. You can customize it to your heart’s content, but again, there is a catch: you may only do it once; when you are 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, or 90, you must continue to drive around in the identical car.

How about a haircut Black Mirror style. After high school, a new procedure will allow you to visit the barber shop or beauty parlor one time; you will never have to visit or pay again. You can get the mohawk, Beatles cut, topknot, fade, mullet, Barbie, ponytail, Afro, Izfro, crew cut, or bangs that you have always dreamed of, but it’s one and done.

Finally, I have a clothing idea as well. You can buy that David Byrne suit, one beautiful miniskirt, overalls, fat Jordache Jeans, Members Only Jacket, Tommy Hilfiger, Pony sneakers, skinny Levis, Alo, Prada, Versace, Izod, Hugo Boss, Splendid, Abercrombie, Pac Sun, Forever 21, Gap, or Perry Ellis, but you have to wear this every day for the rest of your life. Would anyone do this?

So why are tattoos so popular? Ask Bison Tattoos & Piercings, Black Web Ink Miami, Ink Addictz Tattoo Studio ll, or Tattoos by Lou Miami – Kendall because all of these local businesses are both popular and highly regarded by those who have decided to make their style permanent.
