It’s late January in Miami and Sondheim’s Into the Woods is at the Arsht. Ragtime is on Miracle Mile. The Lion King is playing in Broward Center of the Performing Arts; and even further, in West Palm’s Kravis, Flashdance the Musical is running. Harry Connick, Jr. is playing the Knight. Gospel great Tye Tribbett is in Tropical Park. Art Garfunkel is in Aventura. Bruce Hornsby will perform (That’s Just) The Way It Is for the millionth time at New World and Billy Joel will perform Just the Way You Are at the American Airlines Arena for everyone who loves the inspiration provided by cheesy wedding songs.

Maybe this column’s inspiration began while watching Orange is the New Black or seeing some small print about the JCC hosting Kevin Mahogany. It could have also been 50 Shades of Gray! The Musical in Coral Springs, with the film version also about to drop. Colour My World by Chicago played in the background on the radio, followed by Tom Jones’ Green Green Grass of Home, Purple Rain, and Crystal Blue Persuasion.

We live near Coral Gables, Brownsville and Naranja. The U flashes green and orange for fans to sport. The Dolphins flash teal. Kashink painted 50 Cakes of Gay in Wynwood – all bright, delectable, primary colors. Atomik’s got those big smiling oranges all over town. Invader left bright mosaics.

The Blue Starlite Mini Urban Drive In is now located behind the Coconut Grove Playhouse. Pulp Fiction will play on Jan. 28 and 29. Blue Martini holds down Brickell. Marina Blue is at 888 Biscayne. Blue Condo is the color behind the midtown residence with views of Biscayne Bay and the Target rooftop. Provident Doral at the Blue Miami provides luxury for those hoping to play the Blue Monster at Trump Doral or those just wanting to be close to Ikea. Blue Collar serves stomach filling comfort food in MIMO, and Blu serves pizza in South Miami to those who like Best Friends and need to buy a vowel.

Still hungry? Big Pink, Red The Steakhouse, Red Fish Grill, Greenstreet, Orange café + Art and the Purple People Eatery are available. Need to take a ride? Call Yellow Cab or Gray Line Tours who can take you to Red Road, Blue Road or the site of the old Orange Bowl. New York has the Great White Way. We have the Greenway.

Want to see some roundball downtown? Check out the White Hot HEAT against the Mavs on Friday the 30th with Hassan Whiteside replacing Shannon Brown or wait till Draymond Green, Jeff Green, Derrick Rose or Royce White come to Wade Country.

Mick Jagger and Keith Richard wrote this in 1967: She comes in colors everywhere. She combs her hair.

She’s like a rainbow. Putting two and two together, I thought about California’s Hollywood having the Golden Globes. While on the way to our Hollywood, we have the Golden Glades. It’s late January in Miami and though Green Day, The White Stripes, Simply Red, Bobby Blue Bland, Jack Black, Blood Orange and Deep Purple are nowhere to be found, I’ve had color on my mind.
