The Palace Gardens announces Summer “Passport” Series

The Palace Gardens, Homestead’s award-winning assisted living and memory care community, has an informative and entertaining summer “Lunch and Learn” series and the public is invited to attend. Speakers on a wide variety of topics come to the community to share vital information ranging from stress management, hurricane preparedness, fraud protection and more.

The following programs are being held in July and August. Most programs are at noon but check with The Palace Gardens to RSVP at 305-247-0446 and for exact times. The Palace Gardens is located at 3100 Campbell Drive in Homestead.

Hurricane Preparedness with Hurricane Expert Robert Molleda -Tuesday, July 24
Hurricane season is from June 1 to Nov. 30 and peak hurricane season is from mid-August through mid-October. The Palace senior living communities have weathered many hurricanes and want to help you be prepared. The Palace Gardens welcomes Robert Molleda from The National Weather Service for an informative seminar on hurricane preparedness.

Caregiver Stress – Thursday, July 26
The Palace Gardens welcomes Norma Trabanco who facilities a support group geared to caregivers. She is a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years of Alzheimer’s and dementia patient experience.

Healthy Living – Tuesday August 7
Personal trainer Christina Martinez is the guest speaker and shares how healthy eating and fitness play an important role in feeling good and getting the most out of an active life.

Fraud Alert with Consumer Advocate Ivonne Perez-Suarez – Monday, August 13
Come and hear guest speaker Ivonne Perez-Suarez who is a consumer advocate with the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. This is an educational fair with an interactive discussion to help seniors avoid scams, fraud and other schemes that target elderly.

Depression & Loss- Thursday, August 23
Join us and hear Dr. Alex Fiuza, PhD. discuss “Depression and Loss.” Dr. Fiuza holds a doctorate in psychology and has a broad range of healthcare experience that ranges from assisting chronically ill children to providing the elderly with hospice services.

Sex & Human Trafficking – Tuesday, August 28
Sally Russomanno, Human Trafficking Chair for the National Council of Jewish Women, is the guest speaker and her topic is “Sex and Human Trafficking.” After a lifetime dedicated to educating children, Russomanno formed a volunteer committee of women who have been bringing awareness about human trafficking throughout Miami Dade County. Get empowered to fight this horrific business.
