The Village of Pinecrest is setting a global precedent by becoming the first U.S. municipality to implement the World Happiness Foundation’s Cities of Happiness Initiative. This innovative program aims to integrate happiness and well-being into municipal governance to ensure residents feel connected, supported and valued in their community.

Pinecrest’s journey will reach an exciting milestone on March 20 and 21, 2025, when the Village hosts the World Happiness Fest at Pinecrest Gardens. This two-day global event will feature inspiring talks, interactive workshops and community celebrations focused on the theme of Regenerative Happiness.

Tickets for the World Happiness Fest 2025 can be purchased on Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/world-happiness-fest-2025-miami-tickets-929586677777. This event offers participants a unique opportunity to engage with global thought leaders, explore innovative ideas and celebrate Pinecrest’s progress as a pioneer of HaPPI.

Launched in March 2024, the Happy Pinecrest People Initiative (HaPPI) involved more than 350 residents who participated in workshops, focus groups and surveys to help determine what fosters happiness in Pinecrest. Key findings revealed that while 73% of residents report being happy, there is room for growth in areas such as mental health resources and community engagement.

“Our commitment to becoming a City of Happiness reflects not only our dedication to enhancing the quality of life for all residents but also our desire to serve as a model for communities around the world,” said Mayor Joseph Corradino. “By prioritizing well-being in our policies and programs, we are building a more resilient and happier future for everyone.”

The initiative outlined several strategic pillars aimed at enhancing well-being. These include expanding community events, promoting environmental sustainability, supporting mental health through more wellness programs for seniors, youth and teachers, improving infrastructure and mobility and encouraging civic participation. Notably, 92% of residents emphasized the importance of preserving Pinecrest’s green spaces, highlighting environmental stewardship as a top priority.

Following the festival, Pinecrest will continue to implement new programs and track progress through regular resident engagement and feedback sessions. By becoming the first U.S. city to embrace this initiative, Pinecrest is leading the way in establishing what it means to govern with happiness at the core.
