WingDing celebrates a year of Conservation Milestones at Tropical Audubon Society

The Tropical Audubon Society (TAS) will cap Earth Month with its annual WingDing & Silent Auction on Sunday, April 27, from 4-8 p.m. at the group’s South Miami headquarters, a 2.5 acre native hammock anchored by the historically designated Doc Thomas House at 5530 Sunset Drive.

WingDing will recognize the volunteers and public officials who have helped make TAS South Florida’s leading regional grassroots conservation organization. TAS is now accepting Silent Auction items.

Journalist and author Michael Grunwald is the keynote speaker and will host a book signing at the end of the program.

Grunwald, author of The Swamp, won the George Polk Award for national reporting, the Worth Bingham Prize for investigative reporting and an award from the Society of Environmental Journalists.

The festivities will include live music, complimentary food and an awards ceremony to recognize outstanding environmental role models, including Nathaniel Reed, Brookfield Medal; Michelle Davis, Polly Redford Citizen Conservation Award; Mark Woerner, Dan Beard Government Conservation Award; Rafael Galvez, TAS Board Appreciation Award; and Bob Squier, Volunteer Appreciation Award.
