Our first Family Friday of the season is the Halloween favorite “Hotel Transylvania 2” and yes, all your favorite monsters are back once again as Transylvania 2 continues the crazy antics of Dracula and his family. Join us for a unique evening of music, madness and film. Guest Composer Phil Collins, who recently composed a film score for the original Frankenstein silent film, will give a half hour lecture followed by a performance of the score by the MDC Wind Symphony accompanying a showing of the 1926 silent film. In this cult classic, sweethearts Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon), stuck with a flat tire during a storm, discover the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry), a transvestite scientist. As their innocence is lost, Brad and Janet meet a houseful of wild characters, including a rocking biker (Meat Loaf) and a creepy butler (Richard O’Brien). Through elaborate dances and rock songs, Frank-N-Furter unveils his latest creation: a muscular man named “Rocky.” No Rocky Horror Show is complete without BYO props, a special guest emcee, audience participation and a prize for the best costume. Don’t miss the one day a year that we open our gates to the entire family – four legged family members included! There’s something for everyone. Food, drink costume contests(pets and humans), arts & crafts, trick-or-treating, and more… all benefiting the homeless pets that Paws 4 You Rescue saves from the threat of euthanasia. Admission is $5.00 and children under 2 enter free. Entrance is free for Pinecrest Gardens Members. To participate in the pet parade and costume contest for you and your pet there is a special registration fee of $10.00 per pet that benefits Paws4You Rescue.

Join us every Friday Afternoon at the picnic areas near the playground for our Little Lizards Program. This drop-in, informal program will feature new activities every week relating to a monthly theme. Lizards will read, explore, create, and imagine while learning about the wonders of nature. No prior registration necessary and we welcome children age 3-10 weather permitting.
This month’s topic: Butterflies – There is much to learn about these flying jewels! Did you know that female butterflies can lay up to 100 eggs? That’s a lot of baby caterpillars! In October we will learn about the butterfly lifecycle, look for caterpillars in the garden and learn of ways to help these beautiful pollinators.
