Gardens has fashion, Soiree, jazz, ‘Birdcage’ and chocolate in March

Time to get out your calendar and save the dates for some very special upcoming events at the Gardens that will not only be wonderfully entertaining, but will raise money for two very important causes — public Schools and horticulture restoration/- preservation at Pinecrest Gardens.

Fashion in the Gardens, Friday, Feb. 28, 10:30-3 p.m. — The Village and the Community Foundation of Pinecrest invite you to an extraordinary day where all proceeds will benefit the public schools of Pinecrest. Featured at this fabulous event will be the latest series of painted dogs (and now cats) we call “Teacher’s Pets”, all up for adoption. You’ll enjoy a delicious lunch complete with decadent deserts and a signature cocktail. There will be music, a market place, a silent auction and a preview of spring and summer fashion, courtesy of Macy’s, at the Gardens Fashion Show in the Banyan Bowl. Join us for a day of activities and all for the best possible cause. Ticket are $50.

Garden Soirée, Saturday, March 1, 7 p.m.— The Garden Fund invites you to the eighth annual Garden Soirée where you will dine on fine cuisine, taste from a selection of fine wines, dance the night away to the live music of The Click Band, enjoy appetizers and cocktails on Lakeview Terrace while listening to the mesmerizing sounds of steel drums, peruse a cornucopia of beautiful items and then bid on something wonderful at the silent auction. It’s a fabulous night under the stars and our social event of the season. Tickets for the evening (dinner, cocktails and entertainment included) are $125. Tables are available at a discount price. South Motors Gen-Next Jazz, Sunday, March 2 at 6 p.m. — Join us once again for our newest jazz series celebrating the up and coming stars of tomorrow. FIU, in recent years, has become a leader in performing arts disciplines with an emphasis on self-expression and experimentation that fuels innovation and originality in instrumental performance, composition, and improvisation. The FIU Latin Jazz Band, under the talented direction of Mike Orta, is one of the premiere Latin Jazz Bands in South Florida. They will perform segments of original jazz tunes and Latin jazz standards. This event is free.

Cult Film Friday presents The Birdcage, Friday, March 7, 8 p.m. — “One of those rare motion pictures with side-splitting laughs where the humor never stays dormant for long.” James Berardinelli, ReelViews; Experience this classic comedy adaptation of the famous French musical La Cage Aux Folles in South Florida’s most magical movie theater setting. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. for a stroll through the gardens and simple refreshments, and our film begins at 8 p.m.

Miami Fine Beverage, Chocolate & Food Show, Saturday-Sunday March 8-9, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. — A unique culinary event featuring fine artisan chocolate vendors and creations from around the world. The event showcases the gourmet talents of local chefs and presents a selection of fine food products and beverages. It’s a stroll through paradise as visitors experience delicious creations from over 80 vendors. Specialty items for purchase, live cooking and chocolate-making demonstrations, a Pairings Pavilion highlighting fine chocolate and cheese alongside crafted beer, wine and spirits, music and entertainment for the entire family. Tickets are $20 online in advance, $10 per child 3-12; seniors and military members receive a $5 discount when purchasing tickets at the door only with current picture ID; group rates available for groups of 20 or more for $15 per adult and $8.50 per child.
