Infiniti Q60 Red Sport is a perfect blend of form and fashion

Infiniti’s new Q60 is a true combination of sports car feel and luxury car comfort. While Nissan has neglected their enthusiasts, their Infiniti brand may be the answer fans are looking for.

We got the 2018 Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400 with all the bells and whistles that can be chosen from the factory with a final price of about $65,000. Heated seats, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, real carbon fiber accents, a 15-speaker sound system, and more.

The Q60 only comes with a 7-speed automatic and no manual option for purists. This transmission does lead to great fuel economy at 20 city and 27 highway.

The interior of the Infiniti is gorgeous. Every interior material feels solid and nice to the touch. Eight-way adjustable leather seats welcome you into the cabin then hold tight when you take this low slung coupe around corners and when you feel all 400 horsepower dig into the rear wheels to rocket you forward.

I was a big fan of the Silver Optic Fiber seen in multiple places on the dash and center console that blended the idea of luxury and comfort even more.

The interior space is plenty for a coupe of this class. I had head room to spare and never felt strapped for space in the trunk. The back seats weren’t really big enough for an adult but neither are the competitors’ rear seats. The adjustable seats will allow anyone to feel comfortable and snug.

The engine in the Red Sport trim level is a 3-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 making 400 horsepower. Lower trim levels come with either a 2-liter turbocharged inline four cylinder or the same twin turbo V6 but detuned to 300 horsepower. Each trim level can come with optional all-wheel drive, but the one I had was rear-wheel drive.

The performance the Infiniti Q60 Red Sport was on par with that of its rivals, the BMW M4, Mercedes C43 AMG, Audi S5, and a few others. Featuring the ability to go 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 155, the Infiniti lacks only one thing the others have, brand recognition.

In the early 2000s, Infiniti made the g35 coupe and it was very popular. After that was discontinued, they introduced the g37 and while it wasn’t as popular as the outgoing model, it still sold relatively well and can be had for pretty good deals today with low miles but the outdated styling and interior were a detriment.

Meanwhile Mercedes Benz and BMW have been building high-performance versions of their models for decades and have established themselves. That being said, Nissan has been at the top of reliability lists and comparisons for years and the Infiniti brand has only increased the care that goes into the already well built cars.
