On February 11, Pinecrest Elementary School’s Geography Club competed in the Miami-Dade County Geography Bee against over a dozen other schools, winning 2nd place as a team. The event was hosted at Miami Dade College North Campus. They were defeated in the final round by returning champion Sunset Elementary School.
Then, on February 13, they returned to Miami Dade College North Campus once more, to compete in the countywide History Bee. This time, they defeated Downtown Doral Charter Academy in the finals, winning 1st place – the first time they won either event!
Also, four students from Pinecrest Elementary School had qualified their Science Posters for entry in the Miami Dade Science Fair – and two of the children won Gold Medals, one received a Silver, and one received a Bronze!
